Description
Borage is known for its striking edible blue star-shaped flowers, while the young leaves are also edible. It thrives in spring and summer, and it's found it to be one of the best plants for attracting bees and orchard insects. The abundance of flowers draws bees in, encouraging pollination for other crops like zucchini and cucumber.
Sow in trays during spring or autumn (in warmer areas), and transplant about a month later. The flowers can be used as beautiful garnishes for drinks, salads, or cakes, or simply left to brighten up your garden. As the plant goes to seed, you'll likely find it self-sows the following year, as the seeds naturally scatter and grow.
