New Zealand-Made Alpaca and Mohair Blankets with Timeless Softness.
Masterweave Textiles has been at the forefront of New Zealand’s luxury fibre industry for over 35 years. Nestled in the Wairarapa farming region, the company is led by Lindsay and Philippa, whose family farm, Windermere, was among the first in Aotearoa to raise Angora goats, Cashgora, and cashmere-producing animals. In 1989, they expanded their vision by purchasing a small weaving facility—bringing their deep knowledge of fibre full circle.
Today, Masterweave remains the only dedicated mohair weaving mill in New Zealand. The studio is known for its exceptionally soft, voluminous throws and blankets, crafted from alpaca and mohair and brushed with a traditional technique using dried teasels from the thistle plant. This centuries-old finishing method gives each piece its signature downy texture and heirloom quality. Designed to comfort and endure, Masterweave textiles are woven with care, character, and generations of expertise.

Each strand of mohair is hand tied onto looms to create luxury blankets. Thanks to a dedicated weaving team with expert knowledge, each throw is a work of art.

The alpaca fleece is lacking in lanolin. This makes it hypoallergenic and allows it to be processed without high temperatures or harsh chemicals. This makes alpaca a sustainable choice.
