Description
Die Innere Front / The Home Front brings together materials relating to Henrike Naumann’s contribution to RUIN, presented in the German Pavilion at the Venice Biennale alongside artist Sung Tieu and curated by Kathleen Reinhardt.
Conceived as an open-ended document, the publication gathers material from across Naumann’s working process, including her hieroglyphic sign system, conceptual sketches, research, collages, photographs from the artist’s studio and exhibition views from Venice. Also included is her extensive masterplan.key, an evolving document used to collect ideas, connections and visual research throughout the development of the work.
Bound in a continuous spiral format with no clear beginning or end, the book invites repeated reading, allowing connections and meanings to shift as its pages are revisited. Designed by artist Johannes Büttner, it provides an insight into Naumann’s dense process of research, experimentation and artistic development.
