Description
The Dhara Grid Throw by Studio Ford celebrates the history of quilting. Woven from a silk and cotton blend and hand-dyed to a rich chocolate brown, the textile possesses a depth of colour and subtle lustre that shifts beautifully with the light.
Entirely handmade over many months, the cloth is first woven before being dyed by hand in large vats. Once dried, the fabric travels to the quilter, where natural cotton batting is inserted and each throw is meticulously constructed.
Originally developed as a block-printed motif, the Grid pattern is reinterpreted through the quilting itself. Applied in stitch rather than print, the geometric design takes on a new dimension.
Designed in California and crafted in Jaipur, India — where textile traditions of weaving and hand-dyeing have been practised for centuries — the Dhara Grid brings together contemporary design and generations of craft knowledge.

Preserving the art of hand-block printing through timeless textiles.
STUDIO FORD is a Los Angeles-based textile atelier dedicated to preserving the heritage craft of Indian block printing. Founded in 2017 by Josie Ford—an art historian and printmaker—the studio brings a thoughtful, art-informed approach to contemporary textile design.
Rooted in botanical and geometric observation, Studio Ford’s patterns are designed in California and brought to life in close collaboration with skilled artisans in Jaipur, India. Each textile is hand-printed using traditional wood blocks and produced in small batches, reflecting a commitment to slow, intentional craftsmanship.
