Description
A one-of-a-kind stoneware vase by Aotearoa ceramic artist Holly Rose Morgan, wood-fired in the historic anagama kiln at Kamaka Pottery, Bridge Pā, with champagne-toned ash and the movement of flame forming its distinctive surface.
Fired in the Kamaka Anagama in 2025, the vessel carries the variation and marks created through direct exposure to ash, flame and heat within the wood-fired kiln. The kiln sits beside the Martin House, the John Scott-designed home and pottery studio built for Estelle and Bruce Martin, and was revived after fifteen years unfired by a small team that included Holly.
The vessel has a gently leaning form, an individual characteristic of this piece that Holly chose to retain.
