An Invisible Art: Incense Rooted in Japan, Inspired by France.
Tokyo Kodo reimagines the ancient Japanese art of incense through a contemporary, cross-cultural lens. Founder Chikako Perez, a third-generation incense maker, journeyed from Japan to Grasse—the heart of French perfumery—where she immersed herself in the world of scent and met her husband and creative partner, Geoffrey.
Together, they returned to Japan to create Tokyo Kodo: a collection of incense that fuses the meditative depth of kōdō (the Way of Incense) with the refinement and complexity of French fragrance. Each stick is a quiet invitation to connect with the natural world—an ephemeral, intimate ritual crafted with reverence and imagination.
