Based in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland, Skye (Ngāti Tutemohuta) discovered woodturning after the birth of her first child in 2021. She loves to create simple and functional pieces that emphasise the natural beauty and warmth of wood, and embrace its imperfections. Knots, burls, cracks, and nail holes are not seen as defects, but marks of life. For this reason, Skye primarily works with reclaimed or salvaged wood because of the unique character it brings, and the story it tells.
